The present application describes a filter that uses an existing HVAC system’s built in cartridge space and replaces an inefficient lightweight, unsealed paper filter with an aluminum framed, HEPA like, fully sealed filter.

Existing filters have an efficiency of around 30% efficient @10 microns, which is the efficiency of tested OEM type filters available on the open
market. By using the techniques of the present invention, the filters are improved to >99.% at 0.3 microns.
The OEM filter is removed per manufacturer instructions and the filter of an embodiment is inserted per our similar instructions and placed in service. This is done using a simple maintenance replacement process, which is similar but not identical on many vehicles. This can be done in less than 10 minutes with limited knowledge in most cabins.
Once the end user has removed the OEM type filter and inserted the special filter into the manufacturer’s existing space, and replaced the cover, the filter does the rest. It is cleanable with compressed air following instructions as is the OEM filter. It has a point of particle saturation as does any filter but those points cannot be quantified due to the nature and extent of its daily use.
